I DID IT!

So this year, I set a goal to run/walk the Cooper River Bridge Run, a 10K in Charleston. It has been something that I've watched other people do and accomplish, but never thought that I would be able to do it myself. I began to walk and run in January in preparation for the race. This past weekend I accomplished my goal! I, Kimmy Belcher, ran and walked the Cooper River Bridge Run. Honestly, I'm quite proud of myself. I'm proud of sticking to a goal that I had set even when it hurt and I didn't want to make time to do it. I'm proud of myself for finishing right around the goal time that I had set for myself. I'm proud of myself for even making it up the stupid bridge to begin with and across the finish line ALIVE. As I was running and walking, I was so encouraged by others around me and by those that I passed (ha!). It was also just a neat time for me to be "all alone" with my ipod going and my music playing. The music was on shuffle and it never failed the songs that would play at just the right time, some funny and some that made me just wanna stop and "worship" for awhile. (I didn't do that though b/c it was a race, I'm sure God understood!) As I was walking up the bridge, the old hymn "Power in the Blood" started playing and inside my head I kept singing and walking just claiming that his power would get me up the bridge. At the top of the bridge a worship song, "Face Down", started playing and at that point I literally wanted to fall face down cause my legs were about to fall off! And there were also a few Christmas carols that started playing like "Baby It's Cold Outside", which was SO NOT TRUE! This was an amazing experience and I'm so glad that I kept at it and met this goal! Now I can check one goal off of my 2008 list!

I DID IT!
